Are veggies more intelligent?

They are according to a Southampton University team, who found that children with a higher IQ at ten were more likely to become vegetarians in later life.

Vegetarians who confirm this hypothesis, in my view, would include:

a) The great Thomas Hobbes

b) My girlfriend.

Vegetarians who refute this hypothesis would include:

a) Hitler. Not least amongst his shortcomings was his thinking, "Invading Russia - now there's an idea".

b) George Bernard Shaw. "I've seen the future and it works". Have you? Have you really?

c) All the people who call themselves vegetarians who 'sometimes eat fish'. Look - try to get it into your heads: A FISH IS NOT A VEGETABLE!

Plus my diet is increasingly vegetarian. Does this mean I'm becoming more intelligent? I don't think you'd find many people who would agree with this.

The jury's still out on this one, I reckon.

It wasn't Shaw who uttered that line. It was Lincoln Steffens.

Wikipedia has a good page on whether or not Hitler was a vegetarian. The short of it was that he was supposed to be a vegetarian (he has trouble with his arse), but he never stuck to it. As a side note, we're 100% certain that Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao and Thatcher all ate meat.

Be nice to your girlfriend. But her copies of "How It All Vegan", "The Garden Of Vegan" and "La Dolce Vegan" by Sarah Kramer. All super-tasty, easy to make, good value vegan food!

I dare say, Max - but did she have to choose such distressing titles for her books? I mean, what if I couldn't see it on the shelf? I'm simply not going to ask for books with such cheesy titles. [Amazon - yeeeeees, I know.]

My kids are pretty intelligent and by their current eating habits, they are planning to do all their vegetable eating later in life.
